- On June 11, 2021, the
Academy of Sciences of Albania organized the forum for energy titled
"Smart Grid: From generation to distribution". Our Professors
Ms. Raimonda Bualoti and Ms. Marialis Celo from Polytechnic University of
Tirana presented the ENGINE project's outputs at the Energy Forum. The
forum aimed to address energy issues with a particular focus on the
electro-energetic situation in Albania. Approximately 40 participants,
including representatives from the Academy of Sciences of Albania, the
Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, the Energy Regulatory Authority,
energy companies from Albania and Kosovo, researchers from public and
private universities in Albania and Kosovo, as well as from the Agency of
Renewable Resources, discussed challenges related to the incorporation of
smart philosophy by energy companies. Smart grid is an electrical network
that enables monitoring and control of electricity flows and data
communication, facilitating the identification and management of energy
use and various issues. It empowers electricity consumers to become active
participants in the electrical grid. The aim of the forum was to
strengthen cooperation among various stakeholders in the energy field to
develop contemporary ideas and policies supported by scientific research
for smart grid issues. Moderators of the forum were acad. Neki Frashëri,
Chairman of the Section of Natural and Technical Sciences (ASH), and acad.
Jorgaq Kaçani (ASH). The forum consisted of two sessions. The first
session was opened by acad. Neki Frashëri, who gave the floor to the Vice
President of the Academy of Sciences, acad. Vasil S. Toles. Acad. Vasil
Toles, on behalf of the Chairman, acad. Skënder Gjinushi, and the
presidency, emphasized the importance of opening up to the scientific
community, enabling the Academy of Sciences to play a central role in
debating and processing scientific thought on every issue or problem of
importance to Albanian society and science. Today's activity focused on
presenting and discussing issues related to the incorporation of smart
philosophy by energy companies, the development of contemporary ideas and
policies supported by scientific research for these issues, as well as
strengthening cooperation among various stakeholders in the energy
field. Our Professors Ms. Raimonda Bualoti and Ms. Marialis Celo from
